Sunday Inspiration: Hate Eats Away at Your Happiness
Life is so short. In the blink of an eye, our time here could end. Spending your days raising hell, filled with rage and carrying hatred shortens your good days. Only a COWARD holds on to hatred. You see, love can hurt, it can make you vulnerable. It can expose you for who you are and who you are NOT.
Turn the Thorn in Your side into a fly. Then swat them away!
Do you have that one person that can interrupt your happiness just by saying hello? Can they come in and turn your day upside down? Does their mere existence cause your dark side to show? If so, you are bound to this person more than you know. I once had a foe that was like a thorn in my side. This person was a bit manic, so they would attack me whenever their own life indiscretions got the best of them, at one point they would reach out to me daily. It was such a stressful time in my life. This person did not hate me per se, I was just the face of the culmination of their failures. I have been able to see the foe for who they really are, a person in pain. Hurt people HURT people. Years have passed and the foe has not been able to change their ways and switch gears. You know what I had to do? I had to have empathy. I had to learn to forgive the thorn in my side. When the thorn tried to burrow deeper under my flesh, I developed a thicker skin.
These days, that thorn has been reduced to being simply a gnat buzzing in my ear. When they fly in my space, I can swat them away and move about my day. Sometimes you have to learn to exist alongside the chaos, especially if you are in a blended family. Not all members of your blended clan will be excited to jump on board! These hold ups do not mean that your family cannot experience all of the happiness and joy that it deserves. You simply have to find means to allow them their time and work around them. I compare them to a toddler having a tantrum. You do not attend to a child in the throws of a tantrum (unless they are hurting themselves and others), you simply let them exhaust them self and invite them to join when they regroup.
Some members of your blended family may have moments when they’ll revert to their old ways. That is ok! Meet them where they are. Allow them the time and space to experience their full gamut of emotions. In order to maintain your stability, do set boundaries with these types of people. You can turn your chaos into white noise. Forgiveness allows you such a perfect peace.
CAUTION: The light can be blinding when you enter the realms of other side of anger and forgiveness.
Here are a few things that are likely to happen once you take the plunge
- You will face your fears.
- You will meet your regret.
- You will come face-to-face with your own emptiness.
- You will have to admit your wrongs.
- You will have to wiggle out of the quick sand that keeps you in bondage.
- Once and for all, you will stand in your vulnerability and shed the weight of contempt.
Most would rather fester in the stench of the past than become new a creature. Will you chose love or hate today?
I encourage you to give love away. The ones who repel your love are the ones that need it the most. Send them loud, electric positive energy!
